The Canadian Cancer Society BC and Yukon Division (www.bc.cancer.ca) has evolved to become a leader in cancer prevention and cancer research funding, an influential advocate for cancer issues that affect the health of families and a responsive provider to the needs of people with cancer.  Since 1994, revenue generated in the BC and Yukon Division has increased from $11.8 million to over $35 million. Successful signature fundraising campaigns such as the Relay For Life and Cops for Cancer now contribute over $10 million in annual income.

With 200 employees and over 20,000 volunteers, the Canadian Cancer Society is truly a community-based organization with offices in Vancouver, Langley, Victoria, Kelowna, Cranbrook, Prince George and Whitehorse. Recognizing that impeccable service delivery requires highly streamlined and effective local and regional operations, the organization is looking to attract a seasoned executive as Vice President, Operations to take their Division the next level of operational excellence.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer as part of the senior management team, you will provide strategic leadership and support to Finance, Administration and Information Technology.  Aligned with the Society’s strategic plan, you will ensure effective implementation of the Society’s mission, volunteer engagement and revenue development at the regional level. As primary support to the Audit and Finance Committee, you will provide appropriate information to ensure sound financial decisions and act as consultant, advisor and an information source for senior management, Regional Directors, and volunteer leaders on policy issues and implications relating to the operations portfolio. In addition you will formulate and recommend an annual business plan for the departments that support the achievement of a division wide strategic plan.

As the ideal candidate, you are a designated professional accountant with extensive operations, financial and administrative management experience within an organization with multiple locations and a complex matrix reporting structure. You are respected for your ability to work effectively with a diverse group of management executives and are viewed as a catalyst for effective change.  Your people and communication skills are your trademark and you are highly effective at presenting to external groups and working with a Board. Recognized as a facilitator and strategist, you are driven, diplomatic and have a positive influence on all stakeholders that you engage with. You exude passion for the Society’s mission, work tirelessly under pressure, and take pride in your personal results. Comfortable with travel to the National Office and within the Region, you are flexible to work occasionally on weekends or evenings attending events.  Known as a communicator, you are respected for your strong political judgement, and recognized for your positive corporate contribution.
