To achieve its mission of efficiently providing services that enhance the quality of life for all of its residents and visitors, the City of Fort St. John is looking to attract a seasoned Roads & Grounds Superintendent to round out the Public Works management team.

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, you will organize, plan, schedule and implement budgeted maintenance and or construction programs within the roads and grounds division of Public Works for the city. Leading a team of dedicated works professionals, you will hold responsibility in the day to day preparation, installation, maintenance and repair of city roads and recreational facilities and working with the Engineering Department upgrading Cityworks and the GIS system. In addition you will work closely with independent contractors engaged by the city from time to time on specialized works related projects.

To qualify you will have a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology plus three to five years in a supervisory or management role within a consulting and or municipal setting with experience in public works design and or road construction or maintenance. You have demonstrated experience in project management and crew supervision with thorough knowledge of heavy equipment and operation. You are comfortable with design, construction and maintenance of municipal engineering projects and services. You are a visionary leader with impeccable report writing skills with tested strengths in articulating the long term vision for municipal infrastructure. Known as a communicator, you are respected for your strong problem solving ability, keen decision making and management skills. You are recognized for your positive corporate contribution.
